This makes the 3rd Flock of Seagills song in the thread. I never liked them but they definately weren't ONE HIT wonders.

This one makes me cringe and chuckle at the same time. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFYxCIr-Byo"]Stan Ridgway - Camouflage - YouTube[/ame]
I love Stan Ridgway from his work with Wall of Voodoo. They were a great band from that time frame but I don't think they're one hit wonders.
Yeah there were many bands that one might at first think are one-hit-wonders... but are anything but. Some of the bands in the 80s had incredible longevity. The 80s really had a sound all it's own... much of that sound carried over into most of the Cure albums... which was part of why they were so successful for so long. Back in the 80s much of anything that wasn't high-rotation mainstream radio stuff simply didn't get played on the radio and the internet wasn't the viable medium or source/search tool that it is today. And this was in LA... the place of much music production and home to many of the acts... so if it was hard to get stuff in LA I can only imagine how dire it must have been in the midwest. Today many people won't remember but chasing down mix tapes and rare bits of vinyl (45's and 7" lol) was still a big deal in the 80s. I'd drive two hours to maybe... just maybe find a rare Japanese import of some random track of Joy Division or Bauhaus or Chameleons... Those were the days.
