Almost 30 years before the UFC, the legendary "Judo" Gene LeBell took on boxer Milo Savage.

    It's a good read.

The original 1964 Black Belt Magazine article.

    I've seen the fight

It was good but intristing to see a Boxer wearing a Judo Gi
The Rules were not as we Use in MMA today, but this was another step toward what we have today.

    Gene Won Via Choke! (Awsome)

I haven't seen the fight, but the guys who did, did it look like Labell could have sunk an armbar at anytime like he claims?

Gene has a protoge named Karo Parisyan who just won in the UFC not too long ago. I saw the fight live and he looked vey impressive. I was one of the few people who picked him to win that fight.

That was a sweet fight. Strasser looked lost.

And Strasser beat Romie Aram, who did very well in KOTC. it just goes to show you the difference in skill levels between some of the bigger tourneys and some of the smaller ones.

Strasser/Aram was a war, though. I think a lot of the smaller shows have a lot of great fighters that could easily make a big impact given the right opportunity. Vernon White needs to be back in the UFC NOW. Jeremy Horn, Seth Petruzelli, the list goes on.
