14 foot seems a bit long but it depends on what you are doing with it. If all you are doing is thrusting then it is not a problem....
I am very fond of Uncle Zach's work.
Funnily enough, a staff that is longer than the perfect length of 8-9 ft. 10 ft plus.
A short staff is about 6ft.
