Working the pads and counters with a partner will help. Have your partner help you work on your form when you're working the pads, then train counters together so you'll be more aware of what your opponent is looking for and better able to disguise your strikes.

Well, I'm definitely no expert by any means, but if you're getting hit as soon as you hit someone else you might be either telegraphing your punch or leaving yourself open when you strike. The latter will always happen to some degree, but if you keep a tight guard it can minimize that somewhat. Another idea might be to work on some counters of your own. Say you're landing a reverse punch pretty well on your opponent but every time you do he's landing one right back. Hit him twice with it, and then the third time just feint. This way he'll go for his punch, letting you counter that and catch him off guard and giving you a second or two to blitz him with additional punches as he's surprised by your counterpunch. Some counters could be a lead uchi uke or gedan barai followed by a reverse punch or overhand punch, or a lead soto uke followed by a rear ****a tsuki or hook.

      yo!

generally the secondary hand during blocks is, in pure basics training, just used in a way that lets you focus on the technique itself without getting the hand in the way (plus "passively" training you to elbow-strike backwards and pull towards yourself, and teaching you to keep the elbow in and shoulder down). in application the crossing of the hands is itself useful as a defensive movement, possibly using the subsequent technique to strike. uchi-uke in kyokushin is inside-to outside, right? (some styles have the names switched and it gets confusing :p), if so, for an application of the off-hand movement, imagine the off-hand making an inwards parry (maybe punching with the main hand at the same time) and then using the "block" as a backfist or uppercut.

for now, though, concentrate on the basic technique or you'll probably completely mindscrew yourself :p- so basically, block while crossing the hands, then maybe attack with the main technique.

      cheers
