      Hi Dave,

      I started my proper free weight training using Starting Strength. Both Stronglifts and Starting Strength are excellent programmes for beginners build their basic strength with and doing either of them consistently should enable you to make good progress.

      My current routine is one that I'm using to let me work round some injuries, so there is limited pressing (due to an old shoulder injury) and no deep knee bending work (squats) due to a knee injury I developed just before Christmas. I'm in the process of planning my next cycle which will be done to allow me to add in exercises as my injuries get better. I've been doing an upper body day and a limited lower body/core day, but I'll be moving back to a complete body work out (working round injuries of course) starting this weekend.
