Never hesitate to ask anyone a question about anything

There has to be somewhat of a understanding, that research will go a long way.

The research may begin with a question.

That search for a answer to that question will open more "doors"

After the research, then if it seems right for that person, they can make the choice

Many teachers (not only in martial arts) do not like questions, especially those questions that somewhat challenge their own knowledge (teacher)

I wish I knew, but I am a real novice when it comes to Filipino Arts. ap Oweyn would know I bet.

It's not very different. There is some influence from eastern European wrestling but it's a judo offshoot, so it could be said that it is a form of jujutsu in lineage. I don't know much about shuai jiao but what I have seen is very similar. That's not surprising. There was a lot of coordination between China and the Soviet Union during the development of SAMBO and some of the early techniques were supposedly taken directly from shuai jiao. Many eastern European judoka/sambists consider the two arts to be the same, just with different competition rulesets.

I'm just trying to get back to the source myself :)

Wow, I didnt realise you were so sensitive about the subject. I find it sad that Martial Artists would try to take shots at each other to hurt each others feelings. But looking at how long you have been debating this conversation, all I can say is I'm sorry if I added to your bad feelings. Hopefully you will find peace, and truth, about this subject.
