I'm compiling lists of the martial arts community's top ten kickboxers/Thai boxers of all time, for an article I'm writing. Mine are: 1) Bill Wallace 2) Benny Urquidez 3) Joe Lewis 4) Ernesto Hoost 5) Mirko "Crocop" Filipovic 6) Peter Aerts 7) Ramon Dekkers 8) Jean-Yves Theriault 9) Dominique Valera 10) Claube Feistosa Yours?
My list would be similar to yours but I'd include Buakaw, Andy Hug and maybe JWP. Not sure who to drop .
Some names missing I feel should be in a top ten ,in no particular order, would be Namkabuan, Sakmongkol, Orono,Rob Kaman,Dieselnoi ,Samart Payakaroon,Sakad Petchyindee. Mainly Muay Thai fighters.
Me and nine other random losers. or, in no particular order Bill Wallace Benny the Jet Rick Rufus Dennis Alexio Don Wison Jean-Yves Theriault Al Loroux Marvin Perry Jason Yee Cung Le Alex Gong
1. Bill Wallace (unique style) 2. Baukaw 3. Andy Hug (Unorthodox, great kicking) 4. John Wayne Parr 5. Don Wilson 6. Cro-Cop 7. Peter Aerts 8. Ernesto Hoost 9. Cung Le 10. Dennis Alexio Maybe not other people's favourites but these are the ones i've mainly paid attention to.
Agree with a lot of names on these lists, though I couldn't narrow it down to 10. I might also consider Dale "Apollo" Cook. I'm also surprised that nobody has mentioned Kathy Long. Or Jerry "Golden Boy" Trimble, now that I'm thinking about it.
There's not nearly enough actual Thai's there. Diesel Noi anyone? Forced to retire because no-one would fight him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieselnoi_Chor_Thanasukarn
You know, being a fan of muay thai, I deliberately avoided mentioning any nak muay. Because the task gets kinda overwhelming for me at that point.
Aye...I have trouble remembering their names even. Deisel Noi is easy to remember. For his name and the fact he used to knee people in the nuts. Nak Muay also tend to have so many fights that they end up with a fair few loses too. I looked up Yodseanklai (sp? See what I mean? I can't even spell it right) and he's had hundreds of fights. I just think that there will be a couple of Thai's that deserve to be on that list before the likes of Al Loroux, Marvin Perry and Jason Yee. I don't even know who they are.
Yep. Hell, Kaoklai Kannenorasing (sp?) deserves props simply for being in a competition where "twice Kaoklai's size" is a weight class. Stuart
If we are talking Muay Thai then no forigners would get in my top ten or even 50! although Ramon Deckers wouldnt be far away,(number 1 would be Poot Lor Lek,number 2 Hippy Sigmani). If we are talking Kickboxers my list would include Bad Brad Hefton,Paul Vizzio,Troy Dorsey and Steve Shepard,Bill Wallace would be at Number Uno
