Pretty funny things, out of everything he decides to do, he kciks the arm. Not a serious thread, jsut think its funny and worth sharing.

Mod note: fixed it for you. :)

Really interesting. We are taught that that is an application for this kick. However, it seemed like a good way to get your leg sliced to me. Yet here it worked, just like I have been taught.

However, I still consider it a high risk move. I would rather go for some of the other ways my school would teach us to deal with this. (First one being, get away and don't confront him if it can be avoided.)

    Thank god you fixed it.

Hopefully we will see some cartwheel kicks used in self defence soon enough. :p I have no idea what he did with the bottlein the video though you dont see it or hear it.

LOL, that is great! Totally caught the robber by surprise!

I would think, though, that the reason the kick worked was because the robber was distracted. Dude kicked when the robber wasn't ready. Perfect strategy -- I'm applauding the TKD guy. But I think that's why the kick worked.

I've learnt this move in 2 different clubs for knife defence.

I thought it was fun to practise but never practical, yet here it is working :D

Not even an MA kick, just a football kick!

All sorts of stuff can work.

In my younger years a biker mate of mine was staggering back from the pub, much the worse for wear, in a rough neighbourhood after midnight, when a guy stopped him and said something.

My mate stopped, and squinted hard to determine which of the two images he could see was the one he should focus on. This was not made easier by the focal length changing as he swayed backward and forward.

He eventually determined which of the young man in front of him was asking for all his money, and noted he was waving a knife at him.

My mate squinted some more to zero in, before kicking the young man in the groin with all his might. The young chap collapsed to the floor, and my friend ambled off, slowly staggering from one side of the pavement to the other. It must have taken him 10minutes to get out of sight. :D

The moral of this story is not that you should kick knife wielding muggers in the genitals, however funny the story may be.

Rather, it's that low % stuff can work. Unfortunately daily news repots show the remaining high % where it didn't.

Looked like a MA kick to me- what we call a crescent kick. Maybe not even a very pretty one by MA standards, but yeah, basically that one.
The one at 3 minutes in this clip.

yes, the times I've been taught in class it has been an inside crescent kick to the hand.
