I love how you haven't lost your fighting spirit! Kudos for that!
    Good luck with your goals!

I'd be annoyed as hell, with a history like that, especially if it's partly due to something stupid as screwed up hygiene.

Thanks :) I'm bitter as hell about it, but I can be bitter and still work hard towards my goals! :D

Just repeated yesterday's flexibility & mobility session as too stiff to do much else today.

Jam packed schedule last two days so only been able to get in a relaxed stretching session. Just did 3 sets each of left front split, right front split, and side split. Protocol was: increase stretch over a slow count of 10, sit in the stretch for a moment, followed by 3 further increases over a slow count of 2. Final position in each set/stretch was held for 30 seconds. I measured the distance from my perinium and the floor and these were my scores in the final set of each stretch-

    LFS: 8.5" from floor
    RFS: 8.5" from floor
    SS: 12" from floor

Jesus. Those numbers made my soul weep. I can take heart in the knowledge of my recent medical history and not being able to do much, if any, physical training for some months. Determined to smash those scores and be back flat on the floor in a few months.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of bad luck. I hope your progression in flexibility in fitness and strenght goes well! Hats down to your attitude. I think that kind of mindset can take you far. Are there any chances for your prognoses to get better?

I appreciate your kind words Nachi. Yes, I too believe mindset is critical when it comes to recovery. The neuropathy I developed is essentially a lifelong condition, there may be sporadic flare-ups with months between, or one day it might progress to the point I'm in a wheelchair. The hardest part is not knowing what will happen. But what I do know will happen is that I will be back in full splits soon enough :)

So today I kicked the heavy bag for the first time in as long as I can remember. The height and power were a long way short of my pre-illness/pre-surgery best. But the important thing here for my own mindset is that I was told by healthcare professionals that this was something I'd never do again. Hell, just last week I was told to quit by a doctor. The height & power are something that will come back in time (they don't really have a choice). Anyway, here's a brief clip from the last 30 secs of a casually-paced round.
