"When Haley was five years old, her parents entered her in the "Miss Bamberg" contest. The contest traditionally crowned a black queen and a white queen. Since the judges decided Haley did not fit either category, they disqualified her.[6]" Nikki Haley - Wikipedia If I was going to use my duel accredited psychoanalysis and psychotherapist degrees, (arrested development reference to all of you who remember good TV pre Netflix) I'd say this event definitely had an impact in her life.
i'm not surprised because i was born here. but so many of us american are so ridiculously arrogant. it's always really shocking to me when i hear "greatest country ever" or some other such nonsense. you know the kind of nonsense people tell themselves to convince themselves they're more special than they really are. lol
To jump to defend such people I can only speak for myself, obviously, but I am far from being rich. I can hardly imagine 10o.000 or even 10.000 being is Dollars, Pounds or Euros, let alone a million. Billions and trillions I won't even mention. I could use math all day, but on sums that high it would be of no use at all. For me it could just as well be a myth, that so much money exists at one place, so to speak. Therefore I think for "normal" people this much money is hardly comprehensible. For me it isn't, for sure.
it might help to not think of it as a sum but as a percentage. so 1 billion is 1/1000 of 1 trillion. which equates to 0.1 %. make sense? or did i confuse you more? i hope not.
It was more that I was gotten sick, by the sheer amount of money. Still can't really imagine 10.000Euros or something It's just *so much* money (for me), it's ridiculous; all the "illions" I won't even mention The 0.1% does make it more palpable in a "numbers way", that for sure, but in a "real money way" - still too much. I need to get rich for that
Talking of ambassadors being taken to account for what they've said..... US ambassador being totally owned on Dutch TV is deeply satisfying I think this is an example of how unfortunatly Europe sees the US.
oh yes, it does for me. did you see the thing about trump and the tv? don't know if you caught this. but a couple weeks ago, some newspaper came out and said that it's sources in the white house told them trump watches 4-8 hours of television per day. so then he tweeted the next day about how he has no time to watch tv and it's all fake news, and all he does is read documents. he admitted today that he was watching tv and decided to sign the tax bill today because of what they were saying on tv. really, you can't make this stuff up. it's beyond ludicrous.
Feels pertinent to Trump and the modern era, on both sides of the spectrum. Obama warns that society being splintered by online biases Basically Obama warned about how social media is letting people cocoon themselves in echo chambers, further vilifying the other side, and how getting together and talking tends to reveal issues are less black and white in real life and that swearing and abusing the other side and automatically calling everyone either a snowflake or a nazi is counter-productive.
Pfft. Communist snowflakes like him would say that. I mean, it's definitely a problem, but how different is it? It used to be similar: do you drink at the Conservative club or the Labour club? Do you read the Telegraph or the Guardian? We forget how powerful the churches were too; you had a total echo chamber according to the denomination you belonged to. I think it is more to do with how the advertising industry has taken over the internet.
Pranksters Convince Nikki Haley There Is a Country Called “Binomo” This is great, the American UN ambassador literally doesn't know basic geography.
Wow. You know things are bad when George W seems like an intelligent and rational statesman in comparison.
Funny, that's pretty much what I thought too. The essence anyway. For me it was more like: "Gosh, you agree with Bush. Trouble. Problems. Not good. Emergency shutdown."
