I was reading an interesting article about cognitive decline, and I suspect there's some of that at play with regard to his speech patterns and lack of thoughtfulness. I think worse than his lack of intelligence is his attitude about thought itself; he is incurious, jumps to half baked conclusions and relies on demagoguery to inform his plan of action. Trump is a man who doesn't read, contemplate nuance, or understand the weight of his actions. When I think about people I admire, there's generally a dedication to the life of the mind, here we see someone who has taken the polar opposite stance. I find it deeply disappointing how many Americans revel in it and love it, but I think there's a firm history of anti-intellectualism here in the states.
Trump used to be more articulate. What could explain the change? I think this was a good article about Trump's possible cognitive decline. With that said, I don't think this is necessarily what makes his policies and opinions so odious, but it does explain the way he seems to only use five or six adjectives (huge, beautiful, great, wonderful, tremendous, etc.) and how, on multiple occasions, he's forgotten to sign an executive order at an executive order signing ceremony. “I Hate Everyone”: Trump Seethes as Advisers Fear He Is “Unraveling” Vanity Fair's recent article paints quite a picture, one that I find hard to argue against. Retiring and retired Republicans have felt free to criticize the man, perhaps because they have nothing to fear from his base, on the basis of his paranoia and irrationality. Even John Kelly seems to protest too much about the functionality of the White House. Things are starting to feel positively Nixonian.
Just a quick question: When he says "I'm like a smart person" - technically he compares himself with someone smart, right? I have seen lots of dumb people do that More serious though: Just imagining, that part of his behavior could come from starting to become senile, is kind of scary and troubling, isn't it? I mean - I don't think, that might be too much a factor as of now and he just... well, isn't as smart as he thinks. But given, that he has a few years left in his position... What will happen, if there are clearer signs of that? Can he be "fired" for it, by vote or something? (Just a theory question, really. Let's assume next year there are evidences for it for that)
He probably only has this term anyway, pending on opposition next election so its only 4 years if i remmeber rightly. I belive the U.S does have a means of voting for no confience in the Presidnet to get them removed, but its a democratic process which requires the majorty vote in something. (if he gets re-elected, blame the opposition/voting system)
There's two potential mechanisms for 'firing' him - the first is impeachment. If Mueller can show that he's committed a crime or severe ethical breach, congress can vote to impeach him, if a majority does it's then put before the senate and I think a 2/3 majority has to vote to impeach. That's... unlikely in this climate, unless something really shifts with either the Mueller investigation or Trump does something severely stupid. The second possibility is something called the 25th amendment. Essentially if his cabinet decides that the President cannot discharge his duties, they can inform congress and the senate that the VP has to take charge. The standards are more stringent here: both a 2/3 majority of congress and a 2/3 majority of the Senate have to recognize the President as unable to discharge his duties. Again, not very likely in this climate. Realistically he's kind of dug in there, but so was Nixon until he wasn't.

Quote from the end of the article. So he also starts finger pointing like a four-year old. "Doe did this, so it's okay when I do that. He started it! I would never have done anything otherwise....!" That's pretty much, what I hear in kids training a lot; of course the ones doing that are between four and six years old (95% of the time anyway). I'm so glad that someone like this is in such a position!
I wonder how many times Trump needs to disrespect soldiers and their families before he can stop claiming the mantle of patriotism.
Trump admin sought to block undocumented teen from getting abortion The trump administration is trying to block peoples rights via the backdoor too
This kind of thing enrages me. Especially the hypocrisy of allowing (or forcing, per her lawyer's statement) her to go to religious counseling trying to talk her out of getting an abortion, and then on the other hand preventing her from traveling to the clinic...
Trump promised $25K to father of fallen soldier but didn't follow through: report Trump again being caught out!
