Personally Slip I was interested in the chilli version for a couple of reasons. There is a medication called Zostrix that is used for the treatment of neuralgia and osteoarthritis that has been shown in clinical trials to be very effective. It appears to work on stopping the pain mechanism rather than merely masking the pain as some medications. There has been some use of it in treating shingles and hyperaesthesia related disorders. http://www.zostrix.com/pages/clinical.asp Now most medications are expensive and I wondered if there was anything already available that might have a similar effect. Zostrix is 0.025 to 0.075% capsicum and costs 20$ US for a 45gm tube. Hot Stuff is ~5% capsicum and can be easily thinned using petroleum jelly or a similar medium. It costs about 16$ US for 453 gm. Not a hard choice for people with low funds eh :' P FWIW LFD
Interesting... I wonder what the base medium of Zostrix is. Can't be complicated. Pharma co's don't make their big bucks by using super expensive carrier mediums so you may well be onto something here.
I somehow managed to resist directly applying it to any orifices and started with an experimental dab to verify no skin reactions (I have sensitive skin. Don't mock me.). It seemed fine so I proceeded to apply copias amounts to my shoulders and back to relieve some sort of fat person muscle cramp I've developed during jogging back there. I even wore rubber gloves to apply it as was advised on the bottle. Don't listen to the hype, it's just like more economical, longer lasting Icy Hot. Which is not a bad thing. But it didn't even get close to uncomfortably hot. I think Tiger Balm is actually hotter, but just so damn expensive you're afraid to liberally apply it. Also, disappointingly, I have so far not developed any mutant horsey powers, like whinnying or prancing better. Man... Still, you've saved me some money, so that I appreciate Kuma. Muchas gracias. My search for the hottest non-human muscle cream continues...
I would again echo LFD and recommend Mueller Hot Stuff. Although after a proper diagnosis and treatment for my ills I don't use it much these days it is definitely far hotter than red Tiger Balm which I had used prior. I couldn't have a nice hot shower after training because it felt like my leg was literally on fire and that was hours after application. Hot Stuff indeed.
Thanks Righty. I just ordered Mueller Hot Stuff off Amazon for $17.50 in a 1 Lb. tub. There were very few online sources selling it, and according to Google Shopping search, that was the cheapest. It's a petroleum-based product so it will almost certainly require less use than the Hot Pink Lotion (God I love saying that), which was a thinner, runnier lotion, about the consistency of (human) skin moisturizing lotion. I'll let you know the results of my science experiment. And this stuff I'm definitely sticking in an orifice first.
Will be eagerly awaiting your review of this stuff J.R.G... they should be sending me a commision... Actually it's just a good example of good old American common sense... anyone who has handled chilli's knows how much and how long the burn lasts.. (even if one avoids their orifices ;' ) LFD
I have been using Castor Oil. I apply it on my legs and lower back before I workout and after, its not hot at all but takes the soreness and stiffness away. Any Health Store has it.
Dong Jing Gao is really easy to make; it's just camphor, wintergreen & menthol crystals added to melted vaseline. Cools just like vaseline. I guess you could add as much chilli oil as you like to increase the burn, if that's your kick. Essential oils like cinnamon leaf & Black pepper would work too & add anti inflammatory element. Skin tests would be a good idea before lathering yourself up though. :hat:
Okay, so my update on the Mueller Hot Stuff. Assuming my plan to apply a small portion via Q-Tip went so well, I decided to liberally apply the stuff all over my legs. DON'T DO THIS! I am not as tough as I thought I was. This stuff doesn't kick in for a good 20-mins, and by then, you're committed. Once it activated, it was slightly below jalapeno juice in the eye. I found myself in the shower, cold water, scrubbing and cursing up a storm. After 10-mins of washing the pain went down to fire ants nipping at my dangling ovaries. I clearly need to cut this stuff down and use a lot less of it. Thank God I somehow resisted the urge to place it in a body cavity.
hot hot hot! I told you it was hot ;' ) When I was in school I had Hot Stuff on and then got injured. Put a chemical ice pack on the injury and I swear that the Hot Stuff ate a hole through the bag :' P LFD
I try this and its results are very surprising. It does works.I am happy that i came to know about this product.Initially i was not reluctant to try this. But my friend miller succeeded to convince to test it.Know I am really thankful to my friend.I also prescribed it for you as it really works.
Recently got some chilli rub. What a load of tosh, certainly not a 'deep heat' as it sits on the surface and burns like hell. Left marks on my skin and spread all over, even on to the mrs who was up all night in agony.
I've tried a couple of different tiger balms. I've found that the white one (which is very mild and I only bought the first jar by mistake) works really, really well. Much better than the ones which are a lot hotter. Since we're sharing anecdotes, I can say that you want to wash your hands really well after applying the really hot stuff, before doing something stupid like touching your man parts when taking a leak.
The Thai Liniment Namman Muay is okay as a general rub. Wood Lock (Wong To Yick) (medium cold heat) is pretty good for bone etc bruising. I use this to get rid of nagging knocks and bangs that the general liniments don't. Zheng Gu Shui is a bit hotter and really penetrates joints etc well. Fiery Jack was the hottest (capsicum) cream I tried - warning DO NOT put this on after a bath/ shower - particularly on most of your body you'll feel like you're on fire!! (Experience the great teacher - numpty)...
