quick sideways walking, this would seem "cool" to a kid wanting to learn Ninjutsu but how would this help one in a fight?
do you train? as its pointless explaining otherwise your other post is not helping people to take you seriously.
Well sidestepping quickly would help you avoid certain strikes. So I would imagine that very basic ability would be quite usefull. To me it seems like you have alot of questions that could be answered with a book or by searching the forums.
So why in the hell do you think we would want to share info with you!!! :bang: :bang: Go find a school, come back and then you might get some help! Bloody kids, when does school start again!! Only joking, or am i!! seriously find a school!
Greg Chapman: "So why in the hell do you think we would want to share info with you!!!" What difference does it make? Really? I bet you're the kind of person who would see a kid getting beat up in the street and scoff, "bloody kids. I bet he doesn't even take martial arts - certainly not my style - so why should I help him?" then walk away with your snobby nose held high. Itachi, if you would like to 'side-step' the bullies and snobs, you may PM me for more information. If I see one more 'ask your teacher' or 'find a school' I'm going to wet myself, and then I'm going to cry, and then I'm going to eat some icecream. Either answer the question, or don't post. Please, someone say, "ask your teacher" again. I'm in the mood for icecream.
er "ask your teacher" oh come on you knew one of us was going to do it but instead of icecream why not go off and have a banana (Greg will get that one)
Oh get off your high horse :bang: I know for a fact that Greg has "jumped" in a number of times to defend people he doesn't know he even got reported to the bloody police for doing it at one point !
yep i'll second that. its hard enough grasping our art when you actual train in it let alone with a friend and no Instructor. sometimes words do indeed help but normally in conjunction with actual training.
Agreed, though Greg may have put it a little meaner LOL. Unless you have worked with application you likely would continue to think it is useless. As a general movement there are many applications to it outside of H2H altercation.
As I mentioned in your vertical running thread, Itachi, ninjutsu has a great percentage of applicable psychology to increase its effectiveness. Might sound less than "terminator" style invulnerability and overwhelming strength, but truth is it's what soldiers, on the battlefield use that actually makes them combatants. Strategy, tactics, more than just words. They're psychology. I've noticed in myself the mind has a tendancy towards the conservation of energy rule. Basically if there's no apparent cause to burn extra calories with higher thought process' it doesn't want to do it. For this example I'm going to use taijutsu rather than inton as I feel it is more clearly descriptive with less explanation of why sideways running works. When a defender performs a lateral body drop (look this manoeuvre up via google searches on the open web, you'll find images renditions I'm sure), the attackers eyes will tend to follow him proverbially dumping himself at his feet, yet has a strong tendancy to at least partially continue a strike into the space he was a moment ago. Then by the time he adjusts on his feet to redirect (a split second or two), the defender has rolled to one side and up into a counterstrike or an escape. People respond in all sorts of strange ways to unusual or unexpected physical motion. Sideways running is an unusual motion. In a combative emphasis it may buy a precious half a second where needed most to close a gap or escape open terrain. The problem with using psychology is it tends to immediately increase the awareness and/or effectiveness of your attacker immediately following. Now the inton example. You step into the night time backyard for a cigarette and start to wonder why a very criminal and rough looking fellow is about halfway climbing into your pre-teen daughter's window. What you need to do is very quickly close the distance and give him as little opportunity as possible to prepare effectively, an immediate counter response to your motion. Unusual motion would really help here. I would not wish to risk that his response would be getting inside to use her hostage against you, and he may be armed. Taihenjutsu rolls and sideways running may do the job quickly and nicely and give that split second's confusion you need to have him nicely downed and waiting for a police presence.
see thats what the internet does, gives a false view of people, i used my art a couple of years ago to save a schoolgirl from getting a beating, does that sound like the same person to you?
Why, is that not what they are there for, why does a kid who does not train in the art want this info? to brag to his mates then get beaten up for bragging? go to a school and learn the info like the rest of us, and sssh if you dont like it then you know where the door is!!
Yeah well just thought I'd point out that you're only a tossa 95% of the time and that on the odd occcasion you chose to join the human race for the day
Gregg Tossa are very nice dog's but banned in the UK under the dangerous dogs act. If you are one you should leave.
guys stop hijacking this guys threads. hes uninformed, and is trying to be a 'ninja'. please be nice to the guy, if you guys cant or wont answer his question, then dont post, there is a general board for this kind of banter...or gregs 'general ninja chit chat thread'. Itachi, to answer your question... go to a dojo (sssh, get more ice cream, you might not be happy with this response but its the best one hes gonna get when asking such questions if hes not even under an instructors supervision). Greg, I do love to think your a tossa, however I know you can be nice on occasion (through PMs that is)...hes fun to argue with though...
