Bouncy, contact Dan Djurdjevic - he teaches goju karate out your way (and is or was once a member here?). He's reputable and if what he does isn't near you or doesn't suit, he is likely to know other legit martial arts places/instructors in your area.

He should be straightforward enough to find, just google 'djurdjevic karate' - he has a martial arts blog called 'the way of least resistance'.

 

Thank you! I had a quick look at his blog as you suggested and I will definitely be looking into it further! His dojo is nice and close too (about a 12 minute drive or 30-40 minute bus ride). I will comb through his blog and get a feel for his philosophy of course, but at a glance he does seem to be quite eclectic in his approach, and I did say I wanted an adaptable style

Can see you have been active on this thread over the years. Hope you still check in from time to time. I trained with Gary Bailey at Scarborough over a decade ago. He was a great bloke, mentor and Sensei. I would like to get into training again and cant seem to find any contact details for Gary online.
