I'm surprised I couldn't find an existing thread for this

I know I'm gonna get laughed at but I predict a McGregor win by a knockout! It'd be so good to see Floyd getting a beating! Besides, who doesn't love McGregor? He clearly believes he can win!

I think it was Victor Ortiz that made the best analogy for this fight.
It's like Roger Federer challenging the best ping pong player of the last few decades in a ping pong match.
Who do you think is gonna win?

It's a matter of how Mcgregor is gonna lose. By a KO, a TKO, his corner will throw the towel or Mayweather will play it safe and turn it to another sparring match like the Berto one?
Who knows? I bet on Mayweather KOing him though.

I'm amused by the Vegas gamblers predominantly betting on MacGregor, expecting an upset like the Tyson/Douglas surprise. :D

I read this comparison in a sports article *after* I said it out loud to someone, so I'm taking credit for it as my own, but it's like tennis versus racquetball -- sure, you swing a racket at a ball in both, but they're not the same thing. Or cricket versus baseball -- there's a batter and a pitcher and a ball and outfielders, but they're not the same sport! And Mayweather is the current king of his sport, the best of the best of the best! Hello!

 Ya, Mayweather will win. I expect to be watching it tonight with my boxing coach, which is cool, because I'm sure he'll notice things I'm not noticing and aid in the commentary.

    Yes mate, lucky you!

I'll be watching it tomorrow and avoiding all media till after. I'd love to see it live and with some people who train. I think its on in a local pub, but stuff that.

My heart says mcgregor..... Don't ask me what my brain says because the answer is, "it's complicated."

If styles make fights, then this has the potential to be a complete abomination. Personally, I am less interested in the result, than I am in just being a good fight.

Logically thinking they are worlds apart skill and experience wise.

Floyd would have to be really diminished due to age and rust to lose, but this is not the Mayweather we know.
He's very disciplined, calculated and careful with his match making. Never taking risks.

Conor's only chance is to clinch and wrestle in the ropes and still Floyd is an expert in that.
Mayweather knows this so he will jab him at the body all night and won't allow himself to get on the ropes like he did in the second Maidana fight.

Conor's bad stamina, coupled with the big amount of energy that style demands and with Floyd's bodywork may play a big role.
Most boxing experts predict Floyd KOing him for a reason.

Can me old-fashioned, but I still judge a fighter based on his/her sportsmanship and conduct. I would have liked to have seen an upset by Conor McGregor, but I don't like him or his ridiculous suit. I hope he gets put in his place. I felt the same way about Ronda Rousey after she refused to touch gloves.

I hate all of this silly drama and hype. This whole spectical reeks of professional wrestling.

    No. Way.

I gave rounds 1, 2, 3, and 5 to McGregor, and 6, 7, 8 to Mayweather, with #4 going either way. Being generous, then, that was an even fight on my scorecard entering round 9 -- which means McGregor was boxing!!!! Holy moly, Batman!

I got to watch it with my boxing coach and his wife (she is a huge boxing fan) and 3 teammates, and all of us were in shock at how well McGregor was doing. Okay, he kinda hit the back of Mayweather's head of few times with hammer fists, but looking past that -- HE WAS BOXING! AND DOING IT WELL! Jab jab jab actually landing on Mayweather's face! Counter-punches actually landing on Mayweather!

This was an actual fight, and we were loving it, and then ... what happened in rounds 9 and 10? I get that a UFC fight is never more than 25 minutes, which equates to 8 boxing rounds, so in a "real" fight he's never gone past round 8, but come on, that was rather sudden, wasn't it?

And like McGregor said in the ring post-fight, the ref should have let him hit the ground. He wasn't done yet. He was hurt, yes, but he wasn't done yet. This was not the sort of fight to call like that. Let him fall. When he's getting paid $100,000,000 you let him fall. Give the fans their money's worth.

But, wow, rounds 1-8, that was excellent boxing! I got serious respect for McGregor. Serious respect. :):):)

It was not the farce I expected (feared?) that it might have been, with Connor given a seriously good account of himself as a boxer - If he chose too (though I am not sure why he would) there are a few lesser (but only slightly) named fighters out there that he would do very very well opposite, if he decided to take a run at them

very impressed with fight. Conor gave a great showing. Felt the stoppage was premature especially when you are used to mma, however clearly it was all going downhill for Mgregor at that point. Fatigue set in hard by the looks of it which was quite surprising. Maybe just due to volume of strikes in boxing compared to mma? Sad to see his composure fade so rapidly I those later rounds. Brill fight though. Most enjoyable boxing match I've seen in a while.

I thought it was interesting to see Mayweather's reaction to the clinch. He was shelling and turning his back a lot. Maybe due to being used to boxers entering to stand shoulder to shoulder and in fight instead of work to the back?

If you don't know how how to use spoiler tags, then just don't post spoilers on the day after an event.

I'm sure if you go to the support section they'll be a post to show you how.

Theres a multi function box on the reply section, two to the right from the smiley face, hit the option that says spoilers and then write within the two brackets

Funny, because that was exactly that, what had me rather annoyed.
All the hits to the back of his head, the neck and the back, made me seriously wish he would lose alone for that!

I'm not sure about the MMA ruleset, but so far I though, that hits to these areas are forbidden there as well?
If that is so, that's not even an (poor) excuse, why he would have done that during this fight.

Also there was a lot of clinch; nearly like watching Klitschkos fights ;)

Yes - many people will avoid big outlet sources (newpapers,TV, FB) in the wake of an event they have yet to watch
