It's the land that time forgot. People got excited about tablets a year ago....but ereaders are still pretty much unheard of.

I'll have a look around and see what comes up.

    Hmmmm...

I was looking at a laptop that's about 700 euros. It seems good - good reviews, a little more than the UK price and the shop is about 10 mins walk away. I then checked the specs against my laptop and found that it is waaaay better than the one I have now. Despite the broken keyboard and battery charging issues, this old heap performs well enough.

So yeah, I think I am looking at stuff that is way more powerful than I need. I can get something for a couple of hundred less and it would still be an upgrade.

Think you just saved me a couple of hundred euros - You star, you!

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc...oks/pc-specialist-ultranote-ii-1262419/review You can get that particular version down to about 350 pounds.

Configure away for what you may need. http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/laptops/ then compare prices and specs with other models at a similar price point.

You can go very bare bones, but I would recommend an i3, minimum 4gb of ram but ideally 8gb for future proofing. But if all you do is browsing, word editing viewing a bit of YouTube etc bare bones will be more than fine. A benefit of clevo /sager laptops is upgrading components in the future which you can't do with most laptops. So you can start of with 4gb of ram and if in 2 years time you decide you need 8gb you can do it for very cheap and hassle free.

You're welcome. If you're anything like me you'll be attracted to the most expensive thing in a shop, tempted to whip out the credit card and splurge, but then sensible brain kicks in and I do the whole self-questioning 'do I really need something that does A-Z, or would I only use A-H' I'd only use A-H now then I would probably buy something with A-M just because once I've got it I will inevitably see some of the extra's being worthwhile.

I would make sure that you have enough processing power to run the applications you need and have a bit in the tank (to futureproof it for newer stuff) but not spend masses on things you'll never use.
