very nice! The only comment I will add (and this may just happen when you're tired) is before initiating a punch combo which can be a bit of a tell in sparring you do a little "fist shake". I find myself doing it and seen others also in the past and I think it was a way to mentally bring energy level up to punch so hard/fast often when I'm worn down. Apart from that there isn't a great deal, seems like you're powering on even after your rib injury!

    Cheers for the comments guys.

Definitely need more length on those shots. That will be a primary focus.

Yeah, with the hook. It's a bad habit. I don't do it when I shadow box but I do it on the bag and on the pads unless I'm slipping... I need to fix it. I don't like to lower my body too much but I need to shift the shoulder to bring the head out of centre. I think it's a habit born from laziness/complacency on the bag. Bad.

I like to mix up sides much more than I've shown here but my right leg is giving me some problems so I'm not keen on pivoting hard on it just now (for the left kick). You'll see it's strapped in the video. I'm a walking injury haha

Cheers! Yeah I noticed that too. It's as you say something to psyche myself up to firing... I was absolutely knackered when I filmed this yesterday as I'd been working my posteria off on the pads for an hr. I never do it sparring, thankfully. It looks ridiculous doesn't it??

Nice hands, you look a lot older then the Last time I saw you, maybe work on that a little! Also the krav behind you didn't have any restomping of the groin, which was distracting! Overall I give you 11 out of 10!

In all seriousness you look good mate, you're obviously carrying a leg and rib injury, but your still hitting hard and smoothly. And that's the extent of my stand up knowledge!

Ha! I'm bathing in blood and yak's milk daily and cultivating a comb-over, so recaptured youth is surely just over the horizon.

Yeah the background ameridote is not something I partake in haha.

    Cheers for the support dude!

Been super ill this week so no training and no run either.

Will be back next week and will upload more video. Will be working on extending shots and dropping shoulder more to bring the head offline on the hook. Will look at my kick timing. Aiming to cover some defensive combinations checking kicks to countering back with kicks into punches as I want to develop my footwork there.

Been feeling like crud all week. Chest infection too. Not been training. Been doing a but at home.

Worked on some kicks today trying to: throw my kicking side arm out sideways rather than down, glue my other hand to my head, turn the support foot 180 degrees and get up on the ball of that foot. I'm having some good success. Only thing I'm doing wrong is dropping my guard hand for a second the moment I initiate the kick before bringing it to my forehead/temple. Getting there.

Did a few rounds of shadow boxing just hands. I filmed a few snippets to check my form after. It's far from perfect but it's not terrible. I never really feel comfortable shadow boxing as I don't do it properly often enough. I noticed in the below snippet that I'm weaving way too low for kickboxing and that I'm bouncing too much on my exits. You can't see my feet but I'm generally happy with my footwork other than that. I'm certainly no speedboy though!

Any advice is welcome or any errors please point them out. I know it's only a tiny clip but I got some good reference out of it, do you might see something I need to pick up. I'll do a longer vid when I can get a better angle.

looking tight, not much to critique on that :D
you seemed a lot faster on the bag, so I guess that's a combination of not used to shadowboxing, and not being well.
    hope you're feeling better soon.

Cheers dude I'm hoping to be up to snuff to train next week.

Re: speed - I think I find it hard to be fluid while pulling my shots hitting air... More shadow boxing needed.

Cool, another MAPper posting a video.

I'd just want you to keep the hands in front of your head, which is occasionally leaning into the opponent's range.

You can see what I mean between 10 and 12 seconds.

Been playing around with shadow boxing after work today. I intend to do a bit every day.

Shadow boxing us something I do here and there when I'm hanging about. I rarely do it with focus though as a deliberate workout and it's not something I feel that comfortable with.

I genuinely don't know what my mindset should be, how much force, extension and speed I should be putting into my shots or anything.

I'm going to work on it a lot and speak to my coach about it when I'm back at the gym.

I'm intending to make running and shadow work my out of gym priorities for a while. I'll be logging it here.

Here are some bits of filing I did to check my form and see what my approach looks like.

Please feedback about either my technical holes or my general shadow boxing approach if you see anything you can help with.

    Cheers.

Looking good. It's good to have it planned so that mentally you stick to a structure for it outside of the gym.
Are you doing timed rounds? Planned combination, or just a bit of everything for now?

I always feel restricted doing shadow boxing around furniture, but you seem to flow well around, much more coordinated than me! I'd have clocked my foot on the chair :D

    A
At the moment I'm doing 3x 2min rounds working on just trying to shadowbox like someone who has been training longer than a day. Just trying to get comfy. I'm not particularly planning it but I fall into natural tropes as I'm sure you've noticed. Then I film a few minute sessions to view back.

Few things I want to work on include:
Reducing size of head movement and height of weave
Air kicking (especially front kick) control and form
Fluidity of hands which will include finding appropriate extension and tension in fist. Experimenting with relaxed fist and trying focus on core movement rather than getting massive extension on shots.

When I focus down on it it really is different to padwork, bag work and hitting a person. I just want to take it to godlike levels of composure, balance and fluidity... Shouldn't be too much to ask ;)

Still not back at gym. After having been ill for the past 3 weeks and picking up a lung infection I now have full blown flu. Couldn't sleep last night and left the sheets drenched in cold sweat. In addition the gym is closed due to heavy snowfall... Never has a Mediterranean climate seemed more appealing.
