    What's in a name?

    Well, potentially a great deal.

When it comes to Martial Arts, there is a great deal of cross-over in terms of techniques and methodologies between the different styles or systems that exist within a certain cultural area or region. If you've spent any time studying a few of the Filipino Martial Arts, you know this to be true.

Pekiti-Tirsia Kali as a system of Filipino Martial Arts is a system of interacting, interrelated, and interdependent elements forming a complex whole. This complete system is comprised of the Doce Methodos, Contradas and Contra-Tirsia for different edged and impact weapon categories to include empty hands.

The goal of this workshop is to point out some of the universals of fighting/self-protection that most mainstream Martial Arts attempt a solution for and how the Filipino Martial Arts go about providing those answers.
