My Name is Will I study the Budoshin Ju-Jitsu style I currently Hold a Sandan (Third Black) I have been Learning for 8 years
Greg, 37. Shodan bb in a bastardized version of HRJJ. Nidan coming up in the fall. It'll be 7 years. Took Judo as a kid. I have done some kickboxing and Krava Maga and occasionally cross train BJJ. Thinking about starting seriously cross training in a sports oriented MA Judo/BJJ or a pure self-defense oriented method JKD/Krav.
Not sure if it is a matter of learning quick as much as a matter of that specific style/school's testing practices. 5 years to shodan for me (pretty average) in a small school where every class is no more than 10 people (more like 3-5 the first few years) and nidan this fall (will be 7 years). Sandan won't be until 2016 (1 year of training per dan).
I have been practicing Dentokan Jujutsu for about 4 years now. Grew up in Japan and practiced Karate and Judo as a kid.
I suppose I might as well post in here now I'm sure I'll continue training at Ninniku Dojo. Learning Ju Jitsu from Guy Preston, who has received permission and a license to teach Ju Jitsu from Tanemura Shoto Sensei. I'm still not quite sure which Ryu we are learning but the following are listed on the webpage info section Hontai Takagi Yoshin Ryu Asayama Ichiden Ryu Daito Ryu Goshinjutsu. Am currently an absolute beginner.
Hello folks I studied judo some in my teens and tae kwon do in my 20's in just shy of 50.In other words i'm a noob Mac
Hi Everyone, I started mushin ryu ju-jutsu in France when I was 14. I was looking for a Kung-Fu club (always wanted to resume a martial art as I did judo younger and loved kung-fu movies) however the sifu was not reliable so the owner of the dojo, jiu-jitsu instructor, told me to try jiu-jitsu. Loved it and practised it for 6-7 years, then study and laziness caught up. 2-3 years later, I resumed Jiu-Jitsu in the UK, Shorinji Kan Jiu-Jitsu, practising this style since then, now 1st Kyu I have opened a club in Sydney, Australia (as per the requirements for my first dan) and practising Krav Maga, Judo and Koshin Ryu Jiu-Jitsu.
What up I've been practicing jiu jutsu for just over a year now- joined in first year of 6th form to do something for dofe and haven't looked back since- not sure about the precise style i train but everyone in the club is great and there is a nice spread of techniques taught- with a certain emphasis on grappling- plus weapons are always fun Oh and my club spars which is always nice
