I think it will be an unfair comparison sparring between a blind (folded) guy and a guy that has normal sight. You will always be at a disadvantage when not seeing fully. However i'm curious if it indeed does help a bit in 'seeing' objects whilst being blind. That for me is far more impressive than the sparring match, which by definition is unequal.

No thanks Haidarfarhan. I already seen several demonstrations like that. It's not my cup of tea. I prefer just training close-range Bela Diri (not the pre-programmed variation), and not Seni and Merpati Putih is a different kind. But good luck with spreading your style.

Merpati Putih combat system mostly the same as All javanese silat system

haidarfarhan I prefer old style Pentjak (with just focus on Bela Diri, no Seni, or Olah Raga). Like old styles Cimande, Cikalong, Serak, Syahbandar etc.

Merpatih Putih is younger style, also good but different.

I see Merpati Putih has focus on competition, and demonstrations. Probably you train all the 4 aspects of the IPSI. Curriculum like Jurus Tunggal. For me that is 'young' pencak silat.

Since you are from Indonesia, you know that most styles from Java originated from West-Javanese Sunda and Sumatra from only a handful of styles, Cimande and Cikalong being a couple of them (from the 19th century and before). These are for me older styles that don't see pencak silat as a sport.

No competition, no fancy Seni (originally), just train for understanding and to make it effective, initially just for survival.

Sadly from what I understand, these 'older styles' are also harder to find in Indonesia now. Some can be found in Kampongs still.

Silat championship consists of four aspects

    1. Tanding - match (1vs1)

    2. Tunggal - Single arts (1person)

    3. Ganda - Combat arts (2person)

    4. Regu - martial arts team (3person)

Silat Cimande more popular but not older than Merpati Putih, Silat Cimande more popular bcz of Si Pitung learning that silat and become hero of batavia in colonization era

Silat cimande was formed in 1760, Silat Merpati Putih was formed in 1550

So you are saying that all Javanese styles have the same knowledge and way of training combat? Hmmm if you think that 'combat' means 'championship fighting' then yes you are right. For me that is not combat, that's sparring matches.

Indonesia has 5 main islands, every island has their own culture and style

Malay silat, Javanese silat, Sundanese silat, Balinese silat, and manymore

Merpati Putih based in Central Java, and every style of silat in the same island will be affected from the influence of Older Silat style

Haidarfarhan can i ask you, what is your focus in your style? Sparring? Demonstrations? Breaking stuff or showing the tenaga dalam stuff? Or actual self-defense?

  16. haidarfarhan

    haidarfarhan Valued Member

    self-defense (25%), fitness (25%), arts (20%), and human potential (30%)

I was expecting this. Haidarfarhan, this is the modern take at Pencak Silat as determined by IPSI.
It's good that you love your style.

But undeniably knowledge got lost when IPSI got a hold of generalising Pencak Silat. It's ok, i'm not saying your stuff is not good, just that i have seen a couple of styles that mainly focus on 'Self-defense' (80%) and the knowledge found there i do not see in styles that try to train all aspects. These styles however don't focus that much on Fitness and Arts and don't do competitions.

As long as you love what you do thats really ok!

Every video shows how much of an utter con this is - simple tricks, zero controls and the ONE time they adhered to scientific protocol they failed miserably

    Fraud

Like every true believer/zealot, Haidarfarhan is too caught up in the movement to see what utter drivel it is - It's sad that such enthusiasm is being wasted on a modern fabrication and in fleecing money out of the gullible
