Best place. I hear the McDojo franchise is trying to expand into Kanada from Kalifornication. :D

ok now let me clear the air here...

I want to learn MA because i find it very interesting.

I like to learn as much as I can about some of the MA's out there before I make a comitment.

Now as far as making money goes. I want to teach an effective MA. but i dont want to have another job. Thats all! I just want to do MA. Thats it, no other job. So thats why I ask how long it takes, because I wanna have a good idea before i start training.

Its like asking how long a course is, at college for someone who wants a career.

I'm not saying i want to teach right away...mabe when I'm 30 at the very least.

I'm actually planning on going to college :)

Running a dojo is a lot of work and it will take forever to make it profitable. I suggest you get a good job after college and give up this idea of opening up a dojo for awhile.

Now that this has been said, we hate your kind.

In general you should study for a long time under real teachers, and first become good at one art, before you create your own and open a dojo. By good I don`t mean a 3 dan and then go one to create your own school, I mean real good. But, if you are real good you probably won`t need to create your own martial art will you. You will have people coming to your dojo simply because you are good. Now find an art to do train and give up the rest of this nonsense.

    Now,

I dislike people that try to speak for me

, but don't have feelings either way for people trying to make a living off of martial arts. The end product is usually inferior and therefore not worth noticing/mentioning.

Timber, just keep in mind that running your own dojo is a life change and takes a lot of work and effort. My sensei runs a full time dojo and he works very long hours every day of the week (from 9am until the last class finishes at 10pm) with the other sensei working from 4pm till 10pm, and no one is driving around in a Limo....its one of those jobs that you have to because you are passionate about the style you teach. If you love Krav maga but you train in BJJ only because its the current popular art, you will find you will probably be a poor teacher because your hearts not in it.

Best of luck with whatever you choose though.

GKR is the way forward for you.

Its purpose designed for people who have a burning desire to teach Martial Arts, before they have spent sufficient time learning Martial Arts.

While it might take a while for you to see the cash, rest assured you'll be swelling the bank accounts of those at the top of the pyramid while you wait.

Who says I was talking about you, or speaking for you, my bujinkan is a little smaller than the whole.

    Indeed, but you posted a reply on a web forum using the word 'we'. Is it the 'we' as in the members of the web forum? Is it the 'we' as in members of the bujinkan? Is it the 'we' as in diligent martial arts teachers/practitioners? Or is it the 'we' referring to your training group/teacher/friends, because... you wrote;

"Anybody that seriously puts out what Hatsumi sensei is saying, have better have a good reason for saying it and two better know what they are talking about." in this post.

So who are you speaking for, after saying that it isn't a good idea to speak for other people...?

We is a vague designator, it can refer to several different groups.
I wasn`t refering to you as I have only met you once, and frankly I can care less. Do you really want to bicker over the use of we? There is no connection (logical) to what you are bickering over and what I posted previously.

Rjhartu, reign it in a bit. Benkyoka does have a point, you don't speak for everyone and the use of "we" implies that you are. You don't speak for me, my wife does. And she says I don't hate anyone.

Let's not turn the OP into something else.

Why are you so angry? You must answer every question aggresively and ask them the same way.
Ben's question was somewhat seminatical but your "we hate your kind" is pretty general as well.

The OP, though it does look odd may have just looked at this as a possible avenue for the future much like one might look at enjoying being a cop and wondered how long it takes, that is a skill that has to be learned as well. If they have never been in the arts he wouldn't know how serious it is, no?
Not everyone that asks questions like this wants to be a fraud but I will say that with answers like that they'd definatly be turned off a school or the arts in general. However I think that may be your goal in this case.

Who says I`m angry? Take the previous arguments and spin that input through awhile. See what we come up with. :D

I`ve noticed, like I said we met only once. We train with different people? Opps we again ;)
