Hitting the gym at last

    After too long being complacent, I finally decided / realised that I'm unfit and overweight. As a result, I'm now working out three times a week, including personal training sessions with a guy who I swear is trying to kill me.

    No questions at this point, just thought I'd share!

    Good luck, and stick with it! :) I feel the same about my PT, and I'm sure some of my clients feel the same about me, but you'll get results :D

    Yay Aegis! I put on rather than took off weight the past four months myself, unfortunately. I'm trying to reverse that now. Doh!

    Need to do the same myself having missed a lot of training due to other commitments; it isn't any easier as I approach 50 either!

    Then move.

    It sounds so simple, but we don't move.

    I don't warm up that hard any more, but I do lots of mobility drills.

    I don't stretch that much, but I do lots of mobility drills that work my flexibility.

    Flexibility isn't the ability to do the splits or touch your toes, it's the ability to twist and turn, to reach and bend.

    We have a few videos on MAP that show BJJ solo drills, where one person rolls and twists around the floor and that is what I do more and more.

    Update: an hour yesterday and an hour today.

    I now ache pretty much everywhere and have trouble climbing the stairs.
