Actually it is. Rolling batch into joints and smoking poppers is common here amongst people who smoke both. Thing is it's hard to do studies on behaviours which are technically illegal and socially frowned upon.
Oh! The only Americans I've known who smoked weed, or friends who've been to the US and talked to the locals, thought the British custom of putting tobacco in their reefer cigarettes was wrong and disgusting! You live and learn...
Well you can do experiments, sure. But I was talking more socio-anthropological. People are reluctant to fill out even anonymous surveys about their illicit drug use which makes high volume data difficult to call reliable.
LOL, no doubt that's true. I was just shocked when I first watched that there episode. "When was the last time you used cocaine?" -- "Ten minutes ago." :jawdrop:
I think it's overly harsh to blame the American school system for the views of Eddie Bravo.. There will always be kooks in the world that want to feel as though they are one of the few people that truly understands things and, seemingly, trying to convince them they're kooks just makes them dig their heels in even harder. I don't think there's a school system or education in the world that could help "I watched a youtube video and now I know what's what!" Bravo.
I dunno... I just have a hunch that he could have been "saved by science", if caught early enough. I get the impression he's genuinely trying to figure stuff out, he just has no clue how to. I don't think he's anything like Alex Jones; who has admitted he doesn't believe the rot he sells to his audience, and is simply a manipulative, canny and successful businessman. If Eddie Bravo is just in it for the publicity and pundit gigs, then I take my hat off to him because they would be some amazing acting skills! He just really reminds me of people I've known who could have come out of school well educated, given different circumstances.
Have you read Eddies first book where he describes why he called it tenth planet? short answer - marketing. A lot of his approach is marketing shtick, for example Hes an anti vaccer who vacinates his own kids.
No, I've not read anything written by him. So he's a lot smarter than he looks, and just puts on the dumb conspiracy nut stoner act because it makes him money?
I think, like many people, he just happened to find something he was good at (jiu jitsu) and ran with it. He's now under the impression that because he's good at that thing he's also only a hop skip and a jump away from figuring out loads of other things. People far more clever than Bravo have fallen for the same belief. Like Linus Pauling for example. Personally I think he's "clever" in some ways (he can reel off many "facts" and information at will so can retain masses of information) but severely lacks in other ways (sifting through that information). I also think he gets off on having a "maverick" persona and actively likes to be outside of the mainstream or not part of the crowd and that skews his thinking too.
I think he used to be a lot cleverer, and then spent too long with stoner yes men. If you read some of the tenth planet conspiracy threads online it really makes you dispair!

Sifting through information is a skill that can be learnt. I don't believe in "dumb people", only poorly educated people. Of course, some people have more natural talent to work with, but as long as you don't have significant brain pathology I don't see any reason why you can't become a competent academic. Yeah, the whole partisan "us and them" thing doesn't help. I guess if the weed does one thing for him it exacerbates his paranoia.
I'm not saying that Eddie Bravo isn't, most likely, beyond help. I'm saying that a good, comprehensive education system shouldn't let that happen in the first place.
of course that would require someone to enguage with said education. so if that doesnt happen, who's fault is that?
