wanted to share something with you guys. i sometimes get super pessimistic about the world, america and the state of science education. especially when i read this flat earth nonsense. and there's people on this site that push back against standards like common core. the american executive administration is actively trying to deny science. so...my 1st grader goes to public school in a common core state. he's got a science project due soon and last night we had to finalize his plan. i'm really proud in that all hope is not lost, some kids are actually getting a science education in our public school system.. the kid had to come up with a testable question, a hypothesis, a procedure, and materials. i'm wanted to post his work but can't figure out why my uploaded files are not uploading, i'm just getting an failure message. i will post once i figure it out. it's actually pretty fun reading.

There's been a new paradigm in teaching where we're trying to do "Claims - Evidence - Reasoning" rather than the traditional "scientific method" (which isn't really all that accurate). I've been really happy and surprised with what I can do with my AP kids, and I'm writing my master's thesis on trying to apply those paradigms to 9th grade science, which is still governed by somewhat backwards state standards.
Also I love watching your kiddo think through the science of it. He's obviously using logic and evidence to draft hypotheses.
i know right. it was really amazing to watch him and listen to him think through it. because at first, i kept pushing back, "but i thought we were talking about air", but then i realized what he was getting at, and i could see, as you can, the wheels turning. i can't wait for him to run the experiment and record the results. it's literally going to blow his mind.

(she overheard one conversation, that she only remembered after a few decades) Former NASA Employee: "The Moon Landings Were Faked" So anyway, what proof have you of: A) a Jewish conspiracy to kill no Jews by faking all modern medicine, also can you explain how death rates are decreasing due to an uptake in the use of this medicine. B) what convinced you that the earth is flat. C) are you saying elon Musk is an actor? Who's faked his background, and has a fake company? I've driven a tesla, is that fake too? Ps D) Were you born in a hospital or by a midwife? Did they use modern medicine? If so how come your alive?
