I thought it might be nice to have one central location to post any links to Bujinkan clips we find on the net. There are a lot of them out there and I enjoy watching them (good, bad, and indifferent) during my lunch breaks and slow times, as I'm sure many other people do who sit in front of a computer all day. I would like to propose that if anyone wants to discuss any of the clips that they form a new thread and allow this one to be a directory of sorts only.
Found these today: http://www.tanukibujinkan.com/ http://www.magyarninjutsu.hu/shidoshivideos.html http://www.columbusninjutsuclub.com/multimedia.shtml http://www.budogruppen.nu/english_media.shtml http://www.bujinkanomahashibu.com/video3.htm
I would also suggest that one obtain permission before linking. Some folks don't appreciate it, considering the band width it can eat up.
My thoughts are... if you are going to post your video on the net... then you want the world to see it. If it uses up your band width ... take it off.
I agree, I was thinking more along the lines of linking directly to the video wersus linking to the site. Sort of like when you try to link straight to a picture and instead getting a gif or something nastier saying to not hot link.
All of these are links to the video pages and not files themselves, so I don't see the problem. I would agree that linking directly to images and video files themselves is not so nice. Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled program.
The problem with putting up links such as this is that people are going to judge them, including me. Now whilst I liked and was impressed with the taijutsu of Thomas Franzen (or I believe it might be him as i havent seen him in 20 years) http://www.budogruppen.nu/english_media.shtml I was stunned by the demonstration of Davis Jesse Holt. http://www.magyarninjutsu.hu/shidoshivideos.html I tried to find out what grade he is, but in the demonstration, and I know its a demonstration but its just plain awful. OK I guess that he must be better than what he appears to be in the clips, but this is bad stuff to put on a web site to show your skill level IMO. Gary Arthur
Garth`s got a good point though, those clips by Holt are extremely bad, i think he is Godan or above, doesn`t say much does it?
Oh, I'm not interested if people judge them. I'd just prefer it was done in another thread, using this one only for listing - good, bad, or indifferent. Maybe that 'meta-discussion' thead over at kutaki had somthing to it. I really, really don't care much how people judge anyone in any clips. I know where my training comes from, and I'm happy with it. This thread was an entirely selfish attempt to get people to post clips for me to watch while I'm eating lunch at my desk: my Pret sandwhich, BBQ chips (which you INSIST on calling 'sweet-chili crisps' because all your BBQ chips have this god-awful meat flavor on them), and Bujinkan video. Sometimes I see good ones, sometimes not so much... I tend to learn something from all of them, though.
