    Roger was old school before it was popular to be, takedown, improve the position, take the back and choke, simple basics everyone knew was coming but no one could stop

    I was thinking the same. Reminded me of something someone said in my aikido school a long time ago: "There are no advanced moves. They're just the basics done very well."

    Is closing guard around combat base a basic white-belt fundamental now? Seems to be missing from my copy of the Master Text...
