Saw Blade Runner 2049 on Monday and loved it. :)

Visually it's sumptuous, a really immersive experience, and very much in the style of the original. The camera lingers to let you soak in the sets; the composition of shots, the sets themselves, everything creates the same detailed, believable world, just one that has moved on a little.

The plot continues from the original, developing without damaging it, and explores similar themes while expanding them to new areas.

Downsides? I thought the score occasionally drifted into Vangelis pastiche, and I found the villain a rather unconvincing cartoon, rather than the amoral but understandable Tyrell from the original.

There seemed to be a few loose ends to me, but I'd like to see it again to be sure, as at 2 hours 43 minutes there's a lot to take in.

Was just discussing this one in the office with a work colleague the other day, and they suggested the need for a remake...

...so, after refraining myself from giving him the honourable death brought on by a 1000 paper cuts, I offered that a sequel would definitely be welcome - Oh to see Jack Burton, and the old Pork chop express back in action again.

It came in the form of a comic book series a year or so ago. It wasn't very well written.

'Big Trouble...' is one of my favourite movies from the 80's (along with 'Ghostbusters'), but MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN, the comicbook just sucked.

Watched The Fundamentals of Caring, really funny and witty but also touching
Watched Atomic Blonde, generally fun, but I thought the ending was poorly handled

The trailer to that has caught my interest. Would you say it's worth a movie ticket, or wait for dvd/netflix?

I watched The Snowman a few days ago. A nice crime thriller even if you haven't read the book, with a solid performance from Michael Fassbender. If you have seen half a dozen murder mystery films before you will probably guess who the killer is about 3/4 of the way through, but it's still worth a watch.

It's been and gone here now, but yeah, worth the price of admission.

Just got back in from seeing Thor Ragnarok - Admittedly I am a fanboy, be it Marvel or DC, TV or Film, but I absolutely loved it (knocked Winter Soldier off from my top spot)

Plenty of visuals, action and humour (the latter of which may be divisive...) but it was the 80's ambiance that really transformed it from a good offering, to a really great one (within the confines of the genre at least)

My eyes and I watched ourselves 'The Founder' over on Amazon Prime. It's basically the story of 'McDonald's', I sort of vaguely knew the story before going in, and I'm sure Hollywood embellished on the more devious parts, but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I was getting angrier and angrier as the movie went on. It was such a good film, with Michael Keaton once again being awesome.

"Girls and Panzer - The Movie":D
It was fun though and a nice addition to the series.

And, boy, do I feel dorky watching that show :D

I finally got that one on DVD, so I can watch it.

I saw the end once (brilliant timing to switch channels :mad:), but never the actual movie, so to say.

    lol, yeah, probably true :D

But the timing was essentially really the worst possible ever

Like, when you switch to the Lion King and Simba is just pronounced kind in that moment :D

But, boy should I have switched anyway!

EDIT: And that is no spoiler!
The movie is called "The Lion King"! Duh!

"The anthem of the heart", an anime movie a friend of mine borrowed me after he kept recommending it to me.
He told he was crying during it, so I knew it would probably be rather emotional.

    And I think it is.
Not sure, how others would see it though.

Without telling much of the story, the movie is about a group of four students who end up being responsible for a school show.
Sounds boring, but gets interesting due to the situation of the teenager.

One girl suffers from mutism and lots of the movie is about that basically.
How she starts to try speaking, what triggered it, how the other handle it...

Personally I can say lots of it hit right home for me.
Suffering only from selective mutism and having fought some of it, it had moments where I wanted to yell "Yes!" at the screen, so to speak ;)
Her situation is rather different to mine but from an emotional perspective it had some overlaps anyway.
Therefore it certainly is able to give me something to think about, tons of it, and it also certainly spoke to me - but didn't make me cry. Maybe, because I am familiar with it to some degree; but I can see for sure where the parts are, that could make people cry.

Anyway - a movie I really did enjoy for sure!
I could have lived without the love-story (which is only a side-side-story; yes two "side" ;) ), but even that was interestingly handled. As interesting as it can be anyway ;)

Watched "Thor: Ragnarok" with the family today. Very good. I approve. :D

It's not my favorite Marvel movie, but it is on par with all of the other MCU Avenger/superhero movies. It had more humor than others, and fortunately the jokes worked. Having all those jokes, the movie reminded me of "Guardians of the Galaxy" -- a ragtag hopeless team of people who don't get along have to the save the universe from an unstoppable threat. And they do it while looking good. :)

I've watched Knife in the Water
This strange little film from Poland, which was one of the more popular among the 21 multi-national features shown at the First New York Film Festival last month, is the first of that lot of offbeat pictures to be presented commercially here. And it eminently justifies the interest in its acid contents and in the techniques of its young director that it stirred.

I just got out from watching Justice League. I liked it a lot. It doesn't match Avengers in terms of chemistry between the characters, humour, or overall polish, but it does well on its own as a comic book movie. A solid 7/10.
