Master Byung In Lee N stuff Master Byung In Lee has decided not to sign the franchise agreement. As far as the HQ website listings, the site is still under construction and a few instructors are not yet listed. The franchise agreement has been completed and final listings of WKSA member schools will be posted in a couple of weeks. The association is already moving towards the future.
I assumed as much by the obvious omission of him on the Master's page of the WKSA website. However, this doesn't answer speculations being made concerning whether he will be content to simply run his dojang in Austin, or whether he might have greater ambitions, to possibly start up yet another kuk-sool organization. :dunno: Yeah, I kinda thought that was the case, that most but not all of the schools that signed the franchise documents had been listed. But thanks, DK, for eliminating any doubt. FWIW, I'm perfectly willing to wait a little while longer (my curiosity about this whole thing isn't as great as some have made it out to be ). I would expect nothing less. And I am being SINCERE in wishing them the best of luck.
I thought maybe you had decided to refrain from tantrum-like comments. And just to be clear, I'm referring to the wiseacre remark of the TITLE of your last post ("speculation, smeckulation"), as I didn't denote anything the least bit condescending in the BODY. OTOH, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if your next post were to include master B. I. Lee's phone number, so we can take you up on your suggestion.
LOL Good one Pugil. Personally, I still can't see him leaving the Association which would be quite a blow. I have the feeling they,( Byung In Lee and the WKSA ) will work something out. Actually, (sorry) it would be quite exciting.........I have visions of the future. Unjee
Master Lee is the personification of humility. As his student my guess is that he will most likely answer any inquiries with a statement and a question. The statement would probably in the realm of “just decided to go my own way” and the question being “would you like to join us for class today?” Again, just my humble opinion.
My understanding is that we are not supposed to swear or use astericks to indicate swearing. Either one could get you edited or banned. I think we are supposed to aim for the kind of talk one would see on day time TV. It takes more imagination to express yourself without using cuss words. Try it. Maybe "It seems to me that as a person advances in rank, their arrogance goes up proportionally." Really though, I suspect other things happen in their lives, as people cahnge as they get older, hopefully for the better. Sometimes people like change less and less. Maybe what you see is inflexability creeping into their lives. But I agree that Kwan Jang Nim Byung In Lee is a nice guy. Ask your self WWKJNBILD? Would he cuss like that is speaking about his collegues? Would he judge so harshly?
Which is exactly my point about there being several different Kuk Sool 'styles' in the future - just like there are many different 'styles' of Karate.
Apparently, it is. However, if you lost a button off your shirt and were attempting to sew it back on and accidently poked the end of the needle into your finger... You no doubt would have to describe the incident as STICKING your finger, because stating on MAP that you *****ED your finger will end up with it being automatically edited with asterisks. OTOH, the ban on the word DICK has been lifted, because the asterisk substitution was playing havoc with people named RICHARD that prefer the conventional nickname. So if you have a mind to, Unjee, you can always go back an edit your posts using what might be considered an even more unpleasant variant of what you originally had tried to say.
That may be true, but I wish they could "see the light" and realize that the KSGA isn't about trying to *govern* anybody and by joining that alliance, it might allow for the camaraderie that has always been a vital part of kuk-sool, to expand and grow. Who knows? if enough of the various kuk-sool orgs jump on the bandwagon, we might even see WKSA decide in 10 or 15 years that they are doing themselves a great disservice by being the lone holdout.
10 years later and WKSA is still here. Schools come and go in all disciplines. Students breakaway for whatever reason in all disciplines. The franchise agreement only exposed those that wanted to leave anyway.
I see the franchise agreement as a good thing. Franchise are bound to adhere to quality control measures, so students across the world get the same experience at any school. The way you do Ki Cho Hyung will be the exact same, Ki Bon Soo...etc
Macdonalds is a franchise that has the same quality all around the world, however it doesn't mean its a high quality.
You are right, that's why the GM, In Hyuk Suh and a team of the top masters travels around the world to ensure quality is kept high. Standards by them selves are not guarantees, inspections are the key.
