    Hey everyone!

I feel like a total idiot asking that, because it feels like something Google should tell me within a minute - but apparently either I'm too dumb or my phone sabotages me.

I'm looking for a new groin protection, because I'm not too happy with my current one.
    It's one similar to this.

Problem with that is, that when rolling (ukemi, not randori) for some reason my left groin starts hurting again, like when it was strained.

So now I'm looking at this one from shock doctor.

Now to my stupid question: The compression shorts, are they for both sexes(is that right?) or are the differences between the male and female versions?
German amazon doesn't seem to have shorts with "female" in the name, only "male" and "youths".

So, yeah, feeling like an idiot, but - help

And sorry, if that's the wrong forum.
I didn't see an equipment forum, so I thought it might fit in here.

I can't find a great deal of info on Google, but I'd definitely be buying female only shorts.

I'll ask the question on our Facebook and Twitter pages for you.

I think groin protectors, Are mostly designed for men, if you want a female. Groin guard it'll have to specifically say so!

Thank you, Simon, I appreciate it!

@Dead_pool: My question is only about the shorts, where you put the cup into.
Into the I'm looking at is clearly for females (and the only one they seem to offer in that regard, which makes it easier to decide ;) ).

I'm more confused about the shorts: Going with the pictures, they look the same but it's just pictures, so I won't trust these alone.
I get even more confused, because -as mentioned above- German amazon doesn't seem to have shorts for females, but for men and youths - in case they're different, why doesn't it matter with the youths shorts?
I mean the differences are there with kids as well, if you know what I mean.

I had the men's one and it was rubbish. Really couldn't recommend it.

Thanks very much, Ben, for your opinion.
    Appreciate it.
I think, I will probably try it anyway - nit because I don't take your opinion serious, but because I just don't find anything else.
It's the one I already own (the brand might be different, but that seems to be it), or it's the Shock Doctor one.

Are there any other groin guards for females in the English speaking countries?
Serious question, not trying to be nosy or anything!

I have one very similar to this (the upper part is a little wider), but sometimes, when rolling forward, it hurts the groin (groin, as in high up the leg not... uhm... more the middle. You know, where you can pull the muscle, when stretching).

Therefore I don't use it, because the pulled muscle, made trouble for ages.
So I'm more scared for that pain then for the kick pain (which hurts as well, but so far was less likely to happen).

I swear, I never dreamed to have a conversation like that

But your groin guard shouldn't give you a pulled muscle??? Just some chafing at worst.

My fault for having it explained badly, sorry.

I pulled my muscle a few years ago.
Sometimes it still hurts, funny enough mostly when I get thrown Seoi-Nage; never understood that.

Anyway, mostly it's gone and I'm fine.
But a couple of times when we were doing Ukemi and I wore my protector for some reason I would have a short, searing pain right where I had pulled my muscle.

That and being very fearful of the strained muscle coming back (one of the few things I'm paranoid about) made me stop wearing my groin guard.

I caught a kick or knee or something there at times, which really wasn't pleasant, but you know it's said, that first you have to get *really* hurt?
I'm afraid that's a bit of the case for me, since it did hurt but also got away quite fast, due to not being to hard a kick/ knee/ leg.

I was considering the Shock Doctor for months now, but it's quite some money for me.
But to be fair: I do know, that wearing one might not be a bad idea and shouldn't be prevented by 45€...
That plus I need it again anyway, once the competition training starts.
But again: I'm thinking about getting it for a while already, not only because I have to have one.

To answer my own question: When googling and looking for info on the Shock Doctor I stumbled over another groin guard.
It's from a Swedish company called "Lo Bloo" and seems to have good feedback, going for I have found so far.
    It's called "Aero Slim Female".
The price looks okay, as it doesn't need compression shorts (the Shock Doctor plus shorts would pretty much cost the same).

Pretty tempted to try that one.
    The color is horrible though!

Looks much better than the shock doctor one.
The big issues with the Shock Doctor one are that the cup moves about a lot (I once finished an MMA sparring session with it rotated 90 degrees), the cup is too flexible (the last time I wore it my opponent landed on me hard after a takedown and it flattened out, crushing a testicle and being permanently deformed) and the cup is pretty small making it pretty uncomfortable.

I don't rate shock doctor at all either.

I switched to opro mouthguards recently and the difference is ridiculous. I didn't know what I'd been missing. If the comparative quality is indicative of their products across the board then I'd steer well clear.

So, I ordered the Lo Bloo protector.
I guess, I will just spray another colour on it ;)

I never thought I would ever look forward to try a groin protector lol, but now I actually ended up being curious.

Regarding mouthguards: My current one is from Shock Doctor as well (confidence; I searched Amazon and it had great reviews).
I'm actually okay with it so far, but only had two different ones anyway.

By now I slowly need to look for a new one, since I doubt that it helps the longevity, if you chew on it a lot, which I tend to do in between.

Do you have any advice on a certain model by Opro?
I just checked and Amazon here has them as well, so I can just as well try one of these.

I would need for Jiu-jitsu (the sort of traditional one), Karate, Kickboxing... So standup, rolling and throws as well.
In case that makes a difference.

So far I'm using the Gel Max, but with more upcoming Sparring due to competition training, I'm open for other advises.

Also about the pros and cons of a mouthguard that protects both or only the upper teeth...

I guess, it might be better to open a new thread, when I'm from training tonight.
    Or check the forum before.
    Darn it.

    I use an Opro gold.

The fit and comfort levels are beyond reproach and the breathability is amazing.

I would never go back to a gelmax after this.

I use an opro fitted mouth guard, it's lasted 6 years and I hardly notice it's in.

I can't use boil n bite ones now.

The thinnest one is great for grappling, but too thin for heavy striking with.

See I upgraded to an Opro gold and found I prefer the shock doctor one.

Again wanted to thank anyone for the input here!

Regarding mouthguards I stood up to my threat and opened a new thread (that sounds weird).
