Saturday June 9th 2018 - High Wycombe Judo Centre

    Where is it?

    High Wycombe Judo Centre
    http://www.wycombejudocentre.co.uk/

The venue has matted training areas large enough for 2 or 3 sessions at the same time, changing rooms and showers, on site parking and a social bar area overlooking the main Dojo.

    What time is it?

Arrive by 10.00 to sign in if you are taking part in the whole event.

Who is teaching and what arts can I try?

Proposed line up (subject to minor changes in order):

    Simon - Group Warm Up - 10.20-10.30.
    Session 1. 10.30 - 12.00 - Keith Lebhan - Boxing Basics + Aegis Hema + Simon Trapping Hands & straight blast
    Session 2. 12.15 to 13.45 - Dunc - BJJ + One of Janno's instructors Eskrima (FMA) + Unreal Combat Trips & Dumps
    Break for lunch - 13.45 to 14.15
    Session 3. 14.15 - 15.40 - Ben Gash - Introduction to Sanshou/Sanda + Simon Trapping Hands & straight blast + Aegis Hema
    Session 4. 15.50 - 17.00 TBC + Dunc BJJ + Available slot

    Getting there
The location is just off one of two M40 junctions for the town and close to the M4 and M25 routes.
    http://www.wycombejudocentre.co.uk/index.html

    Buses or taxis
You can get a taxi or blag a lift from the central bus station. The Booker/Lane End one (032A) is most likely to be the best choice.
    http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/transport-and-roads/buses-and-trains/
You either want the Turnpike Corner West stop or the Lansdell Avenue Stop. The Judo Centre is in Barry Close, High Wycombe, HP12 4UE

    Rail
The station (with trains roughly every 20 mins) is on the Birmingham to Marylebone line, so you can get intercity to one of those locations (or Banbury) and then switch.

    How do I pay?
Via the just giving page. Read Simon's story
Please donate a minimum of £20 to charity.

    What charity are we supporting?
MAP has supported some very worthy charities over the years and the 2018 Meet will be in aid of Home | Mind, the mental health charity - help for mental health problems

Can I bring a friend/partner/another member of my club?
Yes. As long as they pay through the Just Giving page. Minimum age is TBC

    Will it be fun?
    Oh yes, very much so.

Size, shape, sex, fitness and flexibility aren't a requirement. Come and meet the people you talk to online and see them in a different light.

We look forward to seeing you there.

We already have another couple of HEMA sessions confirmed thanks to Aegis.

It was such a popular session this year.

Depending on what people want, HEMA can cover a large number of subjects. With enough notice, we could do any of the following:
    • Longsword again
    • Military Sabre
    • Spear
    • Arming sword (short or side sword)
    • Dagger
    • Unarmed
I'm much less experienced with some of these, but with enough enthusiasm I'm sure I can call in an expert for the areas I can't cover (which is pretty much anything but longsword).

By default I'll assume Longsword again, but strong preferences may be taken into account.

I always go in with the view that I will make way for any other instructors who want to take a session, but if needed I fancy teaching Savate.

An art that hasn't been covered to my knowledge.

I'm in for sure for this one. I saw the vids posted up on Facebook and was so gutted I missed it! Any idea when your JustGiving page will be set up?

Also are there any local recommended hotels? I might overnight it since I'll be traveling by train and don't fancy doing the journey twice in a single day.

It's quite a rural area...so surely there'll be some BnB (or AirBnB) available. Definately would need an Uber though.

Nice one, cheers for the heads up. I've managed to get the all clear from the missus (it's fairly close to her Birthday so I had to be EXTRA careful) so now I'm just waiting to get my name down. Now my only concern is seeing whether anyone can actually understand me through my thick Black Country accent.

Maybe I should take elocution lessons?
