I had 17500 thanks, more than anyone else and this is because I'm kind, considerate, helpful and the man all men want to be. Now I have none. :mitch:
Hello Guys....I would like to add something... Many countries allow to carry legal weapons for self protection...In those countries anyone may carry a pistol,gun...but with license and permit... And most of countries do not allow to carry weapons...In those countries there are some other which can be carried for self defense.... here i have something which is legal and easy to use for self defense... Blitz Sport Kubotan Key Ring it costs about 6 Uk pounds....
It is situationally dependent on legality to be honest - over the years it has been viewed more sternly because it is not "just a keyring" anymore because the advertising hype for kubotans was always as a weapon of defense (ergo "made" on the offensive weapon scale) - the grey area was around the main function. If it spent most of it's time carrying keys was it still a weapon? It's not cut and dry, but to be honest it's also an overrated tool and a solid flashlight (maglite or similar) is every bit as good and far easier to articulate
This is where my query came in - I have been informed that it is illegal to carry, (and had it confiscated) regardless of whether or not I had keys attached. I have also been told that it is fine to carry, so long as you make sure that there are keys attached and that you will have a use for those keys whilst you are out... Both times the information came from police personnel. I have also spoken with a few doormen/women, and security personnel, who say that they are big no no, but that obviously had nothing to do with the legalities of it... a Maglite is something that we'd always recommend now too, in favour of an actual Kubotan. Travess
I'm sure it is, but that isn't necessarily going to be the correct course of action against an attacker. It will however really cheese someone off and more than likely get them to escalate their level of violence. It will though leave them with a nice centre parting.
I've often wondered about carrying a gum shield....it would look premeditated? However, nothing wrong with having one in the car's glove box. Of course one needs time to get it and pop it in but there may be instances it could come in very handy. Besides, my confidence would shoot through the roof if I had a gum shield in and my attacker didn't!
Geoff Thompson tells a story about a bouncer that used to carry a gumshield in his pocket. Would get it out when faced with aggro, put in and then invariably the aggro person would become a clumsy milkman, drop their bottle and do one.
I would argue that the Bouncer cant really move away from the situation. And 90% of the people giving the aggro to Bouncers dont really want it, theyre peacocking. Also big respect to Geoff but chances are that story was during the wild west days of bouncing. Imagine a cop turns up to a disturbance today, and you see them put on mouth guard. We dont even allow them to raise their voices without someone with a smart phone pointing that way. It wouldnt affect the final outcome but there'll be plenty of questions.
How, on Earth, is it possible, that I constantly read "gun" shield? And kept wondering, what a gun shield is? I pretend the reason lay in just be awake for a few minutes, but I see the lie jumping right into my face
Just out of interest, when did the wild west days of bouncing end in the UK? I also do believe that UK is FAR less violent than it used to be in the 90's and even mid 000's esp. Scotland
